Abstract

The severe acne Bukowski suffered from during his teenager years, resulting in a scarred face, profoundly influenced his life, together with the problematic relations with his parents, outlined in his autobiography and in numerous poems. Of particular interest is the rather positive influence his  appearance had on his relation to women, as well as the impact on his social life.
