Author Biography

Isabelle Licari-Guillaume, Université Côte d’Azur

A former student of the École Normale Supérieure de Lyon, Isabelle Licari-Guillaume is a lecturer in Anglophone Studies at Université Côte d’Azur in Nice, France. She specializes in the study of popular culture, and notably anglophone comics. Her doctoral thesis, which she defended in 2017, explored the history of DC Comics’ Vertigo imprint between 1983 and 2013. She is the author of several articles on the subject, and her upcoming book, Vertigo Comics: British creators, U.S. editors, and the making of a transformational imprint will be published in 2022 by Routledge. She is also interested in translation studies and co-edited the collection Les Traducteurs de bande dessinée / Translators of Comics with Véronique Béghain.
