Alison Bechdel, the renowned American cartoonist and graphic novelist, was honored by the Musée de la bande dessinée in Angoulême, as part of the LGBTQomics exhibition (May 28, 2026 - March 21, 2027), for which she designed the poster.

During her trip to France, she accepted an invitation from Bordeaux Montaigne University, which organized a discussion centered on her latest graphic novel, Spent (French title Lessivée), which is the subject of a critical review by Nicolas Labarre in this section. The event gave the author the opportunity to trace the highlights of her career during a filmed lecture held at the IUT Bordeaux Montaigne on March 11, 2026, moderated by Mathilde Bertrand and Nicolas Labarre.
A podcast featuring an interview with the author, translated into French by Mathilde Bertrand, was also recorded for 9e art, the podcast of the Cité Internationale de la Bande Dessinée et de l’Image in Angoulême.
