In this article, we propose to explore the question of the city in the work of Eugenio Trías. First of all, it will be necessary to agree on the place of the political question and the question of the city in the architecture of his philosophy. Secondly, it will be necessary to describe and analyse the different layers of the term ‘city’: biographical, oneiric, aesthetic, political and metaphysical. Lastly, it will be necessary to outline the rings that surround the Triasian term ‘city’ in real, concrete politics: Spain of the cities, Catalonia-City and metropolis and civic Barcelona. Thanks to this complex speculative journey, we will be able to understand the full scope of the concept of ‘city’ in Trías.
