Jean-Marc Serme, University of Western Brittany

Jean-Marc Serme is Senior Lecturer in American and Native American Studies at the University of Western Brittany. Since 2011, he has taught an introductory Native American studies course to undergraduate sophomores. Over the past three years, his research has focused on indigenous issues in the Hawaiian archipelago. He published “Hawaiian ways of Protection: acting for self-determined Indigenous futurities” in the European Journal of American Studies in summer 2021. Another article entitled “Zones of resurgence: the multiple interpretations of indigenous sovereignty in Hawai`i” is forthcoming.
