Abstract
The Philosophy of the limit by Eugenio Trias should be considered a postwar thought. Under the surface of its theoretical thesis the awareness of inhumanity in the twentieth century is observed. This article proposes to base its interpretation in three levels. First identifying in the corpus the clear references to horror in recent history. Next by means of the explanation of the historical substratum of some of its main proposals: Principle of variation and search of balance between individual and community; the antithesis domination/power; the emphasis on freedom. Third and last the tragical inspiration that underlies this thought is observed.
Keywords: Limit, Tragedy, Inhumanity, Postwar, Power.
