Abstract
This article explores how the deployment of the thought of the philosopher Eugenio Trías allows us to connect the theoretical and practical spheres thanks to his particular understanding of the limit. Studying this notion means developing a theory about freedom directly linked to the exercise of practice and, with it, to the understanding of politics, as seen in his interpretations of Hobbes and Schmitt. The limit has a double character, since it looks at the realm of immanence, of the closure of the subject, of immune attitudes and, at the same time, it is projected outwards in pursuit of inalienable normative ideals. This double dynamic speaks of the liberating potential of the limit and also of its shadows, of humanity and inhumanity. Hence it is necessary to follow the argumentative thread that Trías proposes, from the most epistemological consideration of the limit to its political consequences.
