Abstract
This article is a reading of the novel by Chilean writer Yuri Pérez, Niño Feo, based on a certain idea of the ordinary. Here, this concept is not seen only thematically, but above all as a notion that can characterize the actions of normal man in his conflictive relationship with the established and with the limits of a system. Thus, it is shown how the story of a child's daily life, thanks to the characteristics of the discourse and its textual construction, which combine paradoxes and transgressions, summons the strangeness of the ordinary and confers unsuspected dimensions to this literary work.
