The Setenario is one of the enigmas of the Alphonsian corpus. An incomplete and incomplete work with uncertain objectives, it constitutes a unique stage in the sapiential tendency of the legal prose attributed to the learned king. It contains both a synthesis of Alfonso X’s main works and a novel formatting of the legal material. Through this study, we propose to look again at the dating, the content and also the raison d'être of this work, which we assume to be crucial for understanding the political and cultural enterprise of the sovereign.
